The Broposal by Sonora Reyes

Sonora Reyes has made quite the name for themself on the YA circuit, and after having received the National Book Award and Lambda Literary Award for The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School, they are bursting onto the adult romance scene with The Broposal.

What do you do when your best friend loses the job that was imperative for the renewal of their visa? Obviously, you ask him to marry you, even though you’re both kind of sure that you’re straight. But when you have to pretend to be in love to make the whole thing work, real feelings might make things all the more confusing. —Jessica Pryde

The Shots You Take by Rachel Reid (March 4)

This was one of your most anticipated queer books of 2025! The Shots You Take is about Riley and Adam, who once were teammates and best friends with benefits. Ten years ago, though, Riley moved back to his small Nova Scotia hometown and left that relationship and his hockey career behind him. When tragedy strikes, Adam—now a hockey superstar—reappears in his life to help, and even after all these years, their chemistry is undeniable.

This is another one of your most anticipated queer books of the year.

If you’re looking for queer historical romance with a transmasc lead, your prayers are answered! Lord Christopher Eden lives a private life away from the center of London’s social life, and that’s how he likes it. However, he learns he has to marry to keep access to his family’s fortune and maintain his lifestyle. When he relocates to London, he enlists a new valet, James Harding. Instead of pursuing women, Christopher starts falling hard for James, but they’re both hiding in a way and need to find a way to be together. —Julia Rittenberg

vs. LOVE Vol. 1 by Chise Ogawa (April 1)

This is the first in a manga series that follows two rival teen gangs in Japan, and as I promised in the intro, it’s a take on Romeo and Juliet. Ibuki Marin and Tsuzumi Nikoru go to rival high schools, and they each lead their school’s gang in a turf war. But when they meet in a different context, unaware of each other’s true identity, sparks fly. They’ll have to decide whether this version of the story is destined to be romance or tragedy.

The Build-a-Boyfriend Project by Mason Deaver (August 5)

The author of I Wish You All the Best, among many others, is back with a new trans adult romance. Eli is stuck in an assistant job at an online magazine when he wants to be a writer. After he goes on a disastrous first date with Peter, his boss suggests Eli teach Peter how to be a boyfriend in a series of fake dates so he can write about it. Eli has a plan to make this into a much more interesting article, but as he fake dates Peter, he begins to fall for him.
