Solo Sikoa took on Cody Rhodes in the main event of WWE’s SummerSlam on Saturday night, an all-out slugfest for the Undisputed Championship contested with Bloodline Rules—meaning anything could and probably would happen. The bout was interrupted by the superstar likes of Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton. But the night’s biggest surprise was the return of Roman Reigns, who ended his four-month hiatus to descend on the ring and help a seemingly shocked Rhodes defend his title.
No less notable than the return of the Tribal Chief was what the six-time WWE champion was wearing on his feet. Reigns arrived at SummerSlam wearing none other than the Air Jordan 1 Retro Low x Trophy Room, a limited-edition spin on the low-top silhouette released earlier this year. Trophy Room—the Orlando-based sneaker boutique founded by Michael Jordan’s son Marcus—took inspiration from the famed “Chicago” colorway of the original Jordan 1. The red-white-and-black sneaker features elevated design details like satin panels across the upper and a gold embroidered wings logo on the heel. Needless to say, it’s one hell of a statement piece to mark Roman’s wrestling comeback.
Of course, it’s not all that surprising that Roman Reigns would have access to whichever rare Js he chooses. In April, just days after losing his title to Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, Reigns announced a partnership with Jordan Brand that will see the release of Bloodline-branded sneakers beginning in 2025. But choosing the Trophy Room 1s, in particular, to knock his cousin Sikoa out in the center of the ring is both a testament to Reigns’s excellent taste in kicks and about as major of a sneakerhead flex as you’re ever likely to see.
