The sun rises on Amazon Prime Day 2024. Deals loom on the horizon; emails go unread in inboxes; a lone Alexa speaker implores its owner not to hit snooze on another alarm. In a hushed corner of GQ’s New York HQ, the Recommends squad is alert and caffeinated, sizing up a surprise discount on the latest Dyson robot vacuum or a lowest-price bargain on the Apple AirPods Pro.

Every Prime Day, our proprietary deal-identifying apparatus whirs at a faster clip. Right now, that technology is just about the only gadget not on sale—as per usual, this year’s Prime Day sales event includes major steals on everything the Everything Store does best, including an assortment of eerily chipper Echo products and the Kindle you gifted dad last year.

So double-check your Wi-Fi connection and make sure you’ve got enough battery life, fellow Prime members: These are the Amazon Prime Day deals the GQ Recommends squad actually wants right now—and where to snag ‘em before they’re gone for good. Read on for our wish lists after the jump, and drop an AirTag on the links below for updated intel throughout the next two days. The best buy of Prime Day might just be the friends we make along the way.

8 Prime Day Editor Picks Worth Your Dollars

Technivorm Moccamaster KBT Coffee Maker

Technivorm

Moccamaster KBT Coffee Maker

I’ve been covering Prime Day for way too many years, and without fail, the Moccamaster goes on monster sale. Is it one of the most hyped-up coffee makers of all time? Yes. Does it deserve said hype? Also yes. As a pour-over stan, I haven’t had the need for an automatic drip machine. But this is the year I finally make the jump. The Dutch-made machine forgoes all the bells and whistles to make a good cuppa joe, not much else to say.

Yeti Rambler Colster

The best thing Yeti makes isn’t an overpriced cooler. It’s this colster insulator thing. It’s basically the Cadillac of koozies, and it works as advertised, and looks great whether you’re on the beach or at a backyard BBQ. It’s available for 12 oz. regular cans, but I’ve got a few slim versions, and I’ll be picking up a few more.

Amazon Basics Slim Velvet Non-Slip Hangers

Amazon Basics

Slim Velvet Non-Slip Hangers

Full transparency: I’m buying these for GQ’s New York HQ. You don’t want to see the GQ Recommends “fashion closet,” which really is just a bunch of boxes with all kinds of garments from our testing of everything from linen suits to polo shirts, and everything in between. My personal (and professional?) passion project: Organize, organize, organize. And these will be perfect for doing just that.

iS Clinical Cleansing Complex

iS Clinical

Cleansing Complex

For years, the only face wash I bothered using—day in and day out, AM and PM—was a drugstore buy from Cetaphil. It was totally fine, I guess, but I felt like kind of a schmoe for sticking with the same cleanser since high school…and totally fine doesn’t quite inspire the type of glowing anecdotes you expect to see here. So after the requisite Reddit deep dive, I switched to iS Clinical’s cleansing complex, a gentle, retexturing formula with a weirdly cult-ish following. Ask me how, exactly, it works its magic and I couldn’t tell you—the icy blue bottle touts the exfoliating benefits of willow bark and a slew of restorative antioxidants—but that’s besides the point: work it does.

Seiko SWR066 Watch

One of the best things I bought this year was a teeny-tiny Seiko bracelet watch from the ’70s, which is definitely more bracelet than watch and all the better for it. It’s a women’s model, but I have dainty wrists—and these days, the gals are beating the guys at their own game, anyway. If the coos of delight my new watch-let elicits are any indication, small watches will only be getting bigger in 2024.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Wipes

Dr. Dennis Gross

Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Wipes

Exfoliating buffs away dead skin cells, de-clogging your pores and preventing signs of aging in the process. We know this. You know this. But, like going to bed early or doing more cardio, it’s one of those tidbits of information you come across online and think Huh, I should really do that…before un-pausing Netflix and forgetting about it entirely. Enter Dr. Dennis Gross’ gentle face pads, a duo of pre-soaked wipes that come packed with a who’s who of nourishing ingredients, like lactic acid, willow bark extract, and colloidal oatmeal. A 5-pack costs less than 20 bucks, and they’re ridiculously easy to use. Swipe your face with one, wait a couple of minutes, then do the same with the other. That’s it. The whole process is as seamless as ordering-in Chipotle—if an overstuffed burrito bowl (double chicken, extra guac) came with the power to help you feel Wimbledon-ready.

Samsung The Frame TV (2023)

Samsung

The Frame TV (2023)

You’ll sacrifice a fancy AI processor by opting for the older version of the Frame, but you’ll still get 98% of the features that matter the most. This art TV has a really unique “matte” display that makes glare disappear. It’s the kind of feature that works so well, you wish it came on all TVs. The 55-inch version is probably the right size for most households, at just 1” thick, it’s so skinny you’re starting to worry about it. For Prime Day, you can get it for under $1,000 and get a customizable bezel for free. Be sure to select a bezel before you check out.

Herschel Classic XL Backpack

Herschel

Classic XL Backpack

The all-black version of this bag sold out instantly on Prime Day day one, and I’m still not over it. (Even the tag and the font on the tag was black. Basically, it was made to be irresistible to GQ shopping editors.) However, the other colorways are still worth adding to cart. This XL backpack is big enough to fit a 15 or 16-inch MacBook Pro, plus tons more gear. It looks like Herschel added these bags to Amazon specifically for Prime Day, so don’t be surprised if the rest of the line sells out before Prime Day is over.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

Bose

QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

These earbuds are so comfortable that I wear them for four or five hours at a time. I don’t even listen to music a lot of the time. I use them purely as noise-cancellers during my work day, blocking out everything so I can focus on the task at hand (searching through a bajillion Prime Day deals, mostly). They just dropped to their lowest-ever price, and they’ve got premium ANC and spatial audio, too.

Thule Motion Rooftop Cargo Carrier

Thule

Motion Rooftop Cargo Carrier

Unlike Mitt Romney, my Irish Setter rides shotgun, so this Thule rooftop cargo carrier will be a lifesaver hauling my stuff—and yours, too, if you choose to heed this advice. Thule’s rooftop carries are best-in-class for not only safety but ease with quick-mounting features, dual-side access, and 16 cubic feet of storage capacity. This one is currently slashed by $150 bucks, making it one of the best deals I’ve seen on it since inflation did its thing.

iS Clinical Vitamin C Serum

iS Clinical

Vitamin C Serum

If you’ve been goofing around with smelly, sticky vitamin C serums, what are you even doing? This iS Clinical Vitamin C serum is formulated for those with extra sensitive skin—it’s weightless, odorless, and boy, does it brighten and calm inflammation. Today, it’s 30% off, making it an absolute must-buy.

Foldable Pilates Reformer & Equipment

Faittd

Foldable Pilates Reformer & Equipment

Pilates is the workout on the tip of everyone’s tongue these days, and rather than go broke, shelling out for classes, I’d love to shell out for this foldable Pilates Machine. It’s equal parts space-saving and functional, and at $300 off, it’s a steal that will pay for itself in the first few months of use.

Fit Simplify Resistance Bands

Fit Simplify

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are a great way to jack up your workouts and assist you in physical therapy without resorting to bulky weights taking up space in your home. And for the cost of Spotify with ads, you can skip the gym membership.

Shark NV352 Navigator Lift Away Upright Vacuum

Shark

NV352 Navigator Lift Away Upright Vacuum

I’ll confess that I’m not actually buying this for Prime Day. That’s because I’ve owned this vacuum for two years and it’s been phenomenal. Despite its goofy purple colorway and very non-Dyson design, it’s been far and away the best vacuum I’ve ever used. The suction is fantastic, the unit itself is like a Megatron that detaches into separate smaller components to make every nook, cranny, and staircase a breeze to clean, and emptying the canister is easy as pie. The only downside is that I bought it at full price at about $200. The upside is that you don’t have to.

Samsung 55” QN55Q80D TV

I recently moved, so it was an excellent opportunity to score a new TV, and I lucked out by knowing that Prime Day was right around the corner. Yeah, yeah, everyone’s hyped over Samsung’s The Frame series being cheaper than ever before, but I’m trying to spend less than $1K on a new boob tube (and I weirdly have brand loyalty to Samsung) so I’m opting for this guy instead. It just came out this year and it’s at its lowest price ever, with reviewers hyping up the picture quality, which makes sense for a QLED TV. Plus, it gets extra points for having Dolby Atmos. It doesn’t have a fancy name like “The Frame,” but I’m sure I’ll love my new QN55Q80D (what a mouthful!).

Amazon Basics 5-Shelf Adjustable Storage Shelving Unit

Amazon Basics

5-Shelf Adjustable Storage Shelving Unit

My kitchen’s kind of small, so I need to maximize every inch of space. Our friends over at Bon Appetit recently extolled the virtues of a kitchen storage rack, which reminded me that I used to have one of these growing up, and it was supremely helpful. This Amazon Basics one has just the right measurements for where I’m thinking of putting it, and I can adjust the shelves to fit basically everything.

Calvin Klein Stretch Boxer Briefs (3-Pack)

Calvin Klein

Stretch Boxer Briefs (3-Pack)

If you need underwear, this is definitely the time to buy underwear. If you don’t need underwear, you will—chronology and biology and such—so this is also the time to buy underwear, mostly because you can get the good stuff for the price of a (fancy) sandwich. I’m not sure which camp I fall into and I don’t particularly care, because these clock in at $9 a pair, don’t have an expiration date, and take up very little space.

Mounting Dream TV Wall Mount

Mounting Dream

TV Wall Mount

I’ve been talking about hanging my TV for 18 months now. It’s gotten to the point where I’m not sure I even believe myself when I make the proclamation, but I very much want to hang it, understand the value it would add to my apartment, and while I don’t think it would solve all my problems, it would undoubtedly distract me from the less pressing ones. And now I have zero excuses left, because this swiveling, folding and otherwise perfect mount is less than $50 and can get here by tomorrow.

Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Moisturizer

Kiehl’s

Facial Fuel Moisturizer

I used the same face lotion for more than a decade and then it was discontinued and I was both bummed and annoyed, mostly because I (foolishly) thought I had a daily routine permanently set but also because I had to figure out a replacement. It turns out this was a good thing, because I like Kiehl’s Facial Fuel better than the one I used before and it leaves my face feeling significantly better. And at under $30, the TSA friendly bottle is a steal.

Cole Haan Pinch Penny Loafer

Cole Haan

Pinch Penny Loafer

Nope, they aren’t Weejuns, but trust me, even the most discerning of loafer spotters won’t be able to tell. And if you’re looking for a Wide, Cole Haan has you covered (but I haven’t been able to track down Weejuns in a 3E for 15 years).

Comfort Colors Short Sleeve Tee

Comfort Colors

Short Sleeve Tee

Best style move I’ve made since becoming a dad? Embracing the black T-shirt. It’s neutral, slimming, and doesn’t show its age—or the aftermath of small grabby avocado hands—like a white one. CC’s is a perennial GQ fave and Recommends All-Star for good reason: Nice boxy-but-not-too-boxy fit, soft like a much-loved broken-in tee (as opposed to pre-engineered athleisure instagram-ad softness), and a mid-length that’s good for a tuck or not.
