Trump Sneakers Just Dropped a Timberland-Style Boot

The classic 6-inch wheat Timberland boot, previously reinvented as a high heel and splashed in pink by Cam’ron, has achieved a new milestone: Borrowed as inspiration for Donald J. Trump’s latest quickie merch drop. Trump—who released a $100,000 watch with a tourbillon yesterday and a pair of high tops in July—has just announced his “Fight Fight Fight” boots.

While the six-figure diamond-encrusted timepiece fits the Trump brand we associate with his high-flying 1980s era and the red MAGA hat represents his more recent run as a pugnacious populist, it’s hard to say how these boots (and his sneakers, for that matter) relate to him at all. They are a staple of New York City style, a favorite of generations of rappers like A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z. But these days Trump is much more closely associated with Mar-a-Lago than Manhattan, and it’s safe to assume that the boots are pitched at blue-collar workers and not rapper moguls. Is this stolen workwear valor for Trump, who has typically visited worksites in a suit and a hard hat? It’s one thing for Bushwick kids to wear double-knee Carhartt pants, quite another for a presidential nominee to hawk a pair of construction staples he’s never been seen wearing. (Although his wife Melania has.)

Still, Trump brings his typical markers to the shoes, which feature an American flag design on the padded collar, the former president’s signature, and the words ”Fight Fight Fight” in what looks like the default font in Canva. They also come with the same disclaimer that accompanied the watches: “The images shown are for illustration purposes only and may not be an exact representation of the product.” Trump Sneakers will make 2,000 pairs and the former president will randomly sign eight of them. The money will go to Trump, who has lots of legal bills, and not his campaign.
